Picture Rock, 4-17-10
Note to self: it's always colder in the Needles, than in Rapid City. Picture Rock would have been a new climb for me, but I opted out. I felt like it was just too windy and cold to be fun. I hung out at the base with the Jack Russell terriers while Rob and Pat made their hasty ascents. It looked fun, in a chilly sort of way. It's easy to get to, close to the road not too far from the spires trailhead. I brought my camera and would love to share a picture, but the batteries were dead.

Iron Mountain Road in March
Scrambling around the rocks off Iron Mt road, I'm reminded how ridiculously weak I am. How long it takes to build strength; how quickly it disappears. At least I can have some fun while building up.
The sound of the wind in trees, the smell of Ponderosa Pine forest and that deliciously rough feel of Black Hills granite: It's good to be back.

A Refreshing Climbing Blog from Across the Ocean
This guy in Wales has a climbing blog I aspire to: many pictures, few words. And isn't "Advanced State of Refreshment" a great title for a blog about climbing? He also has a climbing shop. So if any of you happen to be in North Wales, stop by.
